Dorothy Small is the Skowhegan Area High School Technology Integrationist. Small has 22 years of teaching experience in MSAD54 asa Technology integration Specialist from 1996 to present. Before becoming an Integrationist Small taught second and third grades. Small is also responsible for many of MSAD #54's web resources, including Academic Resources, Teacher Resources, and Guide sheets. Small has presented at workshops and conferences including PRISM, Maine Education Conference, Maine School Superintendents Association, Maine Mathematics and Science Alliance, SEED, and the National Teacher Training Institute. In 2004 Dorothy received The Maine Public Broadcasting Network NTTI Technology Teacher of the Year Award and was named an Innovative Educator by Tech4Learning.
Scott Bosworth Scott Bosworth teaches an exploratory class called Pathways at the Skowhegan Area Middle School. Pathways is a technology rich career prep course for middle school students. He has served as his schools MLTI Teacher Leader since MLTI began and is part of the SAMS Literacy Leadership team. In the spring of 2008 he finished his Master’s of Education in Instructional Technology at the University of Maine at Orono. His family also owns a dairy farm where they have a milking herd of over 300 cows.
Mr. Gary Rosenthal received his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Geography and Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and School Administration from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. He also has attended the Principal’s Institute at Harvard.
Mr. Rosenthal has been a Principal at all grade levels and has been a leader in reform and school-turnaround programs in public schools in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and most recently in Maine. An educational leader for over 20 years, he has served on the Board of Directors of the Harvard Principals’ Center, the Chesapeake Center for the Coalition of Essential Schools and on visiting committees with the Southern, Middle States’ and New England Accreditation Associations. He has also served as a member and President of the Dorchester County, MD Board of Education, and has been an Adjunct Professor of Graduate Education at Trinity University in Washington, DC, the New England College in Maine, and currently teaches School Finance at St. Joseph’s College of ME. In addition, Mr. Rosenthal has attended School Leadership Institutes at The College of William and Mary and Salisbury State University. Mr. Rosenthal currently serves as Superintendent for AOS #97, Winthrop and Fayette, ME; he previously served as the Assistant Superintendent and Curriculum Coordinator for the Sheepscot Valley RSU #12.
Laura Richter received her undergraduate degree from the University of Maine Orono and her Masters in Technology from Thomas College Waterville, Me. She is a former history teacher and current civil rights team leader, and technology Integrationist at the Skowhegan Area Middle School in Skowhegan, Maine where she has taught for 23 years. She has been actively involved in the Maine Learning Technology Initiative training both middle level and high school teachers across the state. In 2000 she received the Maine Public Broadcasting teacher of the year award and in June 2003 awarded the Apple Distinguished Educator Award. Laura is also an Apple Distinguished Educator and is currently involved in Apple Professional Development in Maine.
Mandy received her undergraduate degree from the University of New England. She has since completed her Master’s Degree and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Educational Leadership. She has 13 years of teaching experience as a Biology Teacher at Biddeford High School. During this time, Mandy has served on the Leadership Team, chairperson of the instruction accreditation committee and the executive board of the teacher association. Mandy has coached Swimming and Diving as well as the Tennis Team. She is currently the Student Council Advisor at the high school. Mandy enjoys spending time with her husband and three young children.
Susan Joakim has been an educator for 13 years. She has taught special education students with all types of disabilities. She has successfully designed and implemented an all school behavior program which reduced the need of behavior plans for 75 students to 5 in a single year. Most recently her school wide job program called “KidsShine” was featured on WCSH6 as a “Schools that Shine” award recipient. Susan is also the parent of three special needs children and the owner of Fetch ‘n Fun in Wells, Maine. Susan holds a B.A. in Speech Communications, B.S. in Education, M.S. in Special Education, and is currently enrolled in a PhD. program for special education leadership.
Carolyn Hall has over 30 years experience as a classroom teacher and school librarian. Recently she was coordinator of a family literacy project in the midcoast area. She has five years of experience in teaching literacy-related professional development classes in Maine
