This course will explore the theories and history behind the early childhood social studies curriculum. Course work will include the study of national standards and state guidelines. Students will use this information to plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons for young children. The course includes on-line discussions of early childhood development and reflections of practice. Students who are not currently teaching in a classroom setting may complete short research assignments as an alternative to implementing the planned lessons.
