This course is an introduction/review of the field of library and information science, its history, the impact of digital devices and social networking, values and ethics, policy issues, intellectual freedom, initiatives to integrate libraries, museums and archives. Students will become familiar with information theory, the disciplines and sub-disciplines that make up library and information science, and the ethical practices and standards that inform the field.
